Sickness, Prayer, and Healing

This week, I have learned just how many friends I have. I learned that water can be a very powerful natural medicine, and that the stomach bug can be horrendous.

On Tuesday night, it started. I felt…off. I felt the way I normally do before eventually, I’ll get to the point where I really don’t feel well. Well, my first thought was to try to sleep it off. But at 4 in the morning, I realized that wasn’t possible–and ran for the bathroom (made it just in time).

I missed two days of classes. Miserable. I have never missed classes in college! But my friends are awesome, and so are my sisters. They took really good care of me.

Wednesday night was another battle. My fever wasn’t going down, and I felt like I might throw up again. A couple of young men from my church had come over to give me a blessing, for which I was really grateful, but I still didn’t feel any better yet. I prayed then, so hard. I prayed, asking Heavenly Father to help me get better so I could go to school, so I could pass my classes. That’s about all I can remember before I was fast asleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt better. I didn’t feel like throwing up anymore. I wasn’t well enough to go to school Thursday either, but Heavenly Father had heard my prayer.

I believe in the scripture that says, “Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.”
